What is technology adjacent?

Akin to the Force for the Jedi, with Tech being the Jedi in this analogy. Tech adjacent envelops technology. It empowers users, enhances features, extends range, and can even lead to new functionalities. And like the Force, it can be used for harmful purposes. But I digress, this is the blog you are looking for!  But before we come back from the future, let's travel back to one of the earliest days in modern technology.

In 1888, the two-prong electric plug was invented by Thomas Tayler Smith, followed by the plug and socket in 1903, patented by Harvey Hubble. I can't say for sure what the general excitement or level of interest was at that time, especially since electricity was still an emerging technology and more science than fiction.  With only a handful of uses and even fewer who could afford electricity, this new tech was more spectacle that reality.  Similarly, today's general public pays little attention to these inventions except when there are not any to be found to plug in to.  In the interest of time and typing we're going to Fast forward through the late 1900s and skip the "bigger is better" consumer mentality and movies about AI taking over the world.

Nowadays, technology is often described using buzz words like smart tech, digital devices, ultra hi-def, 4, 5, & 6G and wireless technology to highlight their qualitative features.  And don't forget the 65”, Bluetooth 3 enabled, 10 gig capable, 8K, 10 million pixel per square inch OLED Smart TV, which is probably mounted on your living room wall or sitting atop an Ikea entertainment center.  But how about everything else?

For everything else, Technology adjacent. Simply put, it’s everything you want and need to physically (and sometimes emotionally) deploy your gadgets and gizmos (and no, I don’t mean IT Support).  Technology adjacent, it is the outlet with built-in USB ports, the wall mount for your new flat screen, the desk from Ikea for your home office that you have been struggling to assemble for the past two days.  It's even the broken flood light you've been meaning to replace and the unruly set of cables and wires on your desk that need taming.  Whether it's the latest Tech or good ole fashion Technology Adjacent, Jet the Tech has got you covered.
